Daily journal

Plan before the open, log during the session, and review at the close — one day at a time. Unlike the trade-by-trade journal, it follows the flow of a single day on one screen.

What the daily journal is

The Daily journal tab inside Journal in the sidebar organizes a day into three stages — pre-market plan → note timeline → end-of-day review. The date strip at the top shows the last few days at a glance so you can pick one, and the ←/→ arrow keys move to the previous or next day. You can also open or share a specific day directly with ?date= in the URL. It is available on every plan.

Pre-market plan

Before the open, jot down today's direction and rules in advance.

  • Market outlook— Pick today's bias among up, neutral, or down and add a memo with your reasoning.
  • Watchlist — Organize symbols, scenarios, and target/stop levels line by line.
  • Today's limits — Set a daily max loss and max trade count to guard against overtrading.
  • Principles for today — Choose checklists to follow just for the day; they are added to the principles widget on the side.

With the Write journal button at the top right you can even draft plans for future days ahead of time, not just today.

Note timeline

Everything that happens during the day gathers into a single strand in time order. Notes you write and records collected automatically mix together to show the flow as it happened.

  • Writing notes — Leave intraday memos with a rich editor that supports formatting and checklists, and pick a trade from the day to attach it.
  • Auto-collected — Trades closed that day, discipline check-ins, and daily notes appear on the timeline automatically.
  • Inline editing — Edit the memo and strategy checklist of a trade shown on the timeline right there in place.
  • Hiding trades — Trades you would rather not keep in the journal (such as automated ones) can be hidden from the timeline and restored anytime (the records and stats stay intact).

End-of-day review

  • Overall grade — Rate the day as good, ok, or bad.
  • Plan adherenceCalculated automaticallyfrom your "principles for today" check-ins and the strategy-checklist completion of the day's trades.
  • What went well, what to improve, emotions — Record them as you look back on the day.
  • Tomorrow's note — What you write here carries over as "Yesterday's note"in the next day's journal.

Connections with other features

  • Symbol journal — The neighbouring tab in the same Journal menu. It builds up research and trading rules around a symbol instead of a day. See the symbol journal guide.
  • Daily notes— The same notes as the dashboard heatmap's date notes; you can read and write them from the daily journal too (paid plan).
  • TradeView calendar— Clicking a date on the TradeView calendar takes you straight to that day's daily journal.
  • Analysis reports — With the report's daily journal pageyou can move a specific day's plan, notes, and review into an A4 document. See the analysis reports guide.
