Backtesting & replay
Practice mock trading by replaying past charts candle by candle, and run your own real trades back from start to finish.
What is backtesting
Under Backtesting in the sidebar you can use two modes. Simulation is mock trading where you replay past prices and place orders with a virtual balance, and trade replay lets you retrace your own real trades by replaying the chart of the period they happened, from entry to exit. It is a Premium-only feature.
Simulation
In New simulation, once you set the exchange, pair, period, and starting balance, the chart from that point plays back. Just like a real exchange, market and limit orders, leverage, TP/SL, and forced liquidation are all reproduced, and your orders and P&L are saved automatically per session, so clicking one in the list lets you continue practicing from where you left off.
Starting a trade replay
- From the replay list — Click a trade on the trade replay tab of Backtesting. Use the dropdown at the top to filter trade history by wallet; the price exchange is selected automatically based on the exchange connected to that wallet, and you can change it yourself.
- From TradeView — Use the Replay button on the live chart tab of the trade detail to start replaying that trade right away.
- Open trades cannot be replayed — Trades that have not been closed yet have no defined replay range, so they do not appear in the list. Once they are closed, you can replay them.
The replay screen has the same layout as TradeView. Stats such as net P&L, position info, and the fill timeline are on the left, with the replay chart and notes on the right.
Replay controls and the replay bar
- Play & speed — The play button reveals candles one by one, and you can adjust the speed from 0.5× (slow) up to 10×. There are also buttons to step one candle forward and back.
- Replay bar — The replay bar below the chart represents the range from entry until the trade ends. Dragging it makes candles appear and disappear in real time so you can move to any point, and for far ranges not yet loaded it fetches the candles the moment you let go and moves there.
- Click the fill timeline — Clicking an entry or exit item in the fill timeline on the left jumps straight to that fill point. It is handy for checking split-buy and split-close points one at a time.
- Jump & timeframe — You can jump by entering a date and time directly with the calendar button or by clicking the chart, and you can switch between 1m–1D timeframes even while playing.
- Entry & exit markers — Once the replay passes a fill point, the entry or exit marker appears on the chart. Fills not yet reached are not shown in advance.
Writing replay notes
In the notes card below the chart, you can write and edit trade notes right away while watching the replay. Notes saved here are the same as the ones in your trading journal and TradeView, so you can keep viewing them anywhere, and you can also see the daily notes written for that date.
Usage notes
- Because replay uses real market candles, it is available for cryptocurrency (spot and futures) and Korean stock, ETF, and ETN trades. Korean listings are replayed with KRX daily candles.
- To end a session, press the End session button at the top right, or click Backtesting in the sidebar again to return to the initial screen.
- Prices display data published by exchanges (Bybit, MEXC, Bitget) and KRX public data for Korean stocks, ETFs, and ETNs, and are for reference only. For detailed terms, see the Terms of Service.
